09/03/2017 NNDC AND ICAN PLEDGE TO STRENGTHEN BILATERAL COMMITMENT TO STUDENT SPECIAL PROGRAMME (SSP)

The outgoing National President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Deacon Titus Soetan, FCA complemented NNDC for spearheading economic development and manpower training in the North especially through the Student Special Programme (SSP) and Young Professionals Development Trust (YPDT) schemes.

He expressed this sentiment when he visited NNDC Headquarters on Thursday 9th March, 2017 in company of the Kaduna District Chairman of ICAN - Mal. Ibrahim O. Lawal, FCA and other officials.

He said that the states in the North that keyed into the various training programmes of NNDC/ICAN were better off. He also noted that NNDC was a pillar of support to the Kaduna District. He therefore appreciated the company for availing Kaduna District some facilities and for the sponsorship of the company's staff to ICAN conferences and programmes. Finally, he urged NNDC not to relent in its sponsorship of ICAN national conferences. 

In another development, the ICAN National Vice President and the incoming National President, Mal Ismail Zakari, FCA also paid a working visit to NNDC on Monday 2nd February, 2017 to solicit for continuous support. He observed that NNDC had been a long time partner of ICAN. He assured that the incoming administration would strengthen the friendly ties existing between NNDC and ICAN.

The Vice President further said that a major area of interest to his incoming administration would be to fast-track the creation of Makurdi NNDC/ICAN Study Centre in collaboration with the Benue State Government.

Responding, the GMD of NNDC, Dr. Ahmed M. Muhammed FCA, stated the unwavering resolve of NNDC to continuously train professionals from the North that will compete with their peers on the world stage in different fields of endeavor. He noted that since the inception of the SSP, NNDC had sponsored and trained over 660 Chartered Accountants from Northern Nigeria. He said NNDC would continue to engage the Benue and Gombe State Governments to further promote the YPDT and SSP schemes.

Present at the occasion were the Executive Director, Business Development and Corporate Planning, Alh. Abass A. Waziri, the Executive Diretcor, Management Services Directorate, Mrs Kaneng D. Adole and other NNDC Management staff.
